Hi, and welcome to my blog. My name is Jen, I am a mixed media / textile artist, living in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. I have mainly been posting to social media but I wanted a space to go more in depth about my creative process and to show more of the behind the scenes and things that inspire my work.
I have made art for most of my life. I did a lot of drawing and painting in my earlier years, and made jewelry for a long time. I’ve always dabbled with other things, like paper collage and sculpture, but was mainly making jewelry for several years. At some point I got discouraged with jewelry (too competitive as a business, too hard to actually make a living) and then realized I wasn’t enjoying making it anymore, anyway. I stumbled into textiles at some point, first with sewing and tapestry weaving, then wet felting, eco-printing, and right now I just like making fabric collages. I find them relaxing, and feel that I can really create intuitively. Thanks for checking out my blog, I hope you enjoy joining me on my journey.
